You all know my dad lost his 3+ year battle with lung cancer this fall. Even though cancer is such a horrible and debilitating disease, we are very thankful Dad had a decent quality of life during most of his treatment. Dad and I often talked about our mutual amazement of modern medicine. We chatted about new cancer-fighting drugs, drugs that combat the side-effects of chemo, and the new surgical technologies. Dad was completely in the driver's seat regarding his treatment and was an equal partner with his oncologist when it came to treatment decisions. Bottom line, he was well informed regarding his options. I hope this option comes to fruition for other lung cancer patients soon. Seriously, I got goose bumps.
