While I was catching up on my daily Pop Sugar gossip, I ran across this story about Anne Hathaway taking a self defense class. She was inspired by her tough girl character in Get Smart to learn how to protect herself.
Good decision, Anne! What if your security guard has to pee?
There are so many big screen tough chicks that have inspired us. Here's my list of favorites:
- Sarah Conner (played by Linda Hamilton) in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. There are so many good scenes. I am still wide-eyed over the pull-ups! Plain and simple, Sarah Conner rocks!
- Beatrix Kiddo/The Bride (played by Uma Thurman) in the Kill Bill series. She is John's favorite movie tough chick.
- Doralee Rhodes (played by Dolly Parton) in 9 to 5. Don't laugh! I love it when Doralee finally establishes her boundaries with the skirt chasing Mr. Hart.
Other great tough chicks are Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider and Sigourney Weaver in Alien. And, we all know how I feel about Jeannie Bueller.
I know this is fictional, but we can find inspiration anywhere. Now it's your turn... tell us about your favorite tough chick.
Two of my favorites were both played by Jennifer Garner. Electra and Sydney Bristow.

I'm taking a different path here but in terms of toughness (regardless of looks) Marjorie Main as Ma Kettle always struck me as being right up there. She always reminded me of my paternal grandmother.

I think my favorite tough chick character would be Angelina Jolie as Mrs Jane Smith in Mr & Mrs Smith.

River Tam From Firefly/Serenity.

River Tam in "Serenity", particularly the bar scene when the Alliance finally trips her neural programming. PRICELESS. If you haven't seen it...well, IMO any lover of tough chicks really should.
