Please don't say cordite.
Cordite has not been used for firearm ammo since sometime around the World War One.
There are a few and very few at that. exceptions.
Mostly a few larger guns, 1 inch bore or larger around WW2.
The writing of cordite smell has been used by authors who do not know.
This is just a peeve of mine.

Samuel Franklin

Well, I happen to think that a youngun such as yourself that is "gunny" enough to use cordite at least in the right context should be given accolades for hanging out with us old fogeys that remember the existence of it and use it in sayings. As for peeves(switching to my british vernacular) "Ave a spot of tea and blow it out your arse." Correcting someone who is on our side, a pretty female Shooter is just downright rude. Sod off. Cordite Cordite Cordite.

'One AR 30 round clip = 45 minutes of treadmill running' - that cracked me up! I needed a good laugh today, thanks!

Dan G.

i love the smell of cordite in the morning..in the afternoon... evening...even midnight,

it's called a metaphor, get over yourself, i don't like a few terms used by those wanting to learn but i'm not going to call out a new shooter on it, and a pretty one to boot

Tracy

Sam, Dan,
Be sweet. Not everybody has to like the word cordite.

Cordite was mostly an artillery propellant. It was to hard to pack into rifle and handgun cases. As a shooter and a blogger you're a spokesman for the shooting community and it behooves you to be as correct as possible or you sound like the unknowing MSM.
