Random Thoughts...

I had a great (but, crazy) day today.  Busy day at work, managed to take a long lunch to volunteer at a local high school (more on that later), and got in a great workout.  Since I went to the gym directly from the office I was in an adorable sweater dress and fabulous fringe boots.  I was schlepping to the locker room to change when I encountered a woman wearing a ginormous Obama button.  She was sweet and told me my boots were cute. I said "thanks" and carried on.  Then, the synapses in my brain began to fire...  I wonder if my new boots would be considered "wealth" in an Obama administration.  Hmmm.  On another random note, I totally forgot about the Obama-mercial tonight.  I was on a treadmill at the gym surfing the eight TVs when it came on.  For the first time I was thankful that most of the TVs were on sports channels and CNN.

Bottom line, I cannot wait for this election to be over. This has been the longest, most drawn out election ever!  I early-voted since I am traveling next week. The good news is if I get hit by a bus, my vote still counts.

Brrrrr...

Winter is coming.  I can feel it in the air.  I hate it.  I really, really hate it.  I think we might have to kick on the heat tonight.  If this is the case, we should turn it on now and leave for a few hours... I can't handle the smell of a freshly turned-on heater. It makes me gag.

This time of the year brings the end of John's competitive season.  John got back from his final sanctioned match of 2008 last night.  He is now plotting out his travels plans for the spring.  What will he do for the next three or four months?

Knob Creek Videos, Part III

I stumbled upon another mystery of the digital age.  The mystery prompted the following note to YouTube:

Dear YouTube,

You rock. But, oh my goodness, you move at a snail's pace!  How is it possible that I can download a song from Itunes in 3 seconds, but it takes five minutes to upload an 11 second video to YouTube?  Please advise.

I finally uploaded all of the Knob Creek video to the Pretty Pistolera YouTube Channel.  There is lots of gunny goodness for your viewing pleasure.  There are even videos of my mother-in-law shooting machine guns.  It was fun for all ages!

As promised the rest of my videos are avaialble to watch - Glock 18, HK MP5 PDW, M4 Carbine, M60, and an M249 SAW.  My favorite is the Browning 1919 (its nickname is Grandpa).  It took me some time to let the Browning bullets fly... Grandpa gave me an owie.

Knob Creek Video, Part II

Here are a couple new videos of our Knob Creek field trip. Check out the Knob Creek Playlist on the Pretty Pistolera YouTube Channel to see the videos.  There is a new video of the lower range and one of me shooting a Thompson.

John was so excited about the Thompson.  He gave me the full history lesson.  He explained its nickname is the "Chicago Typewriter" and it came out in 1928.  He also told me it was the gun that Bonnie and Clyde used. I shot it, shrugged, and handed it back to him.

John:  Great, huh?

Me:  I didn't really care for it.

John:  Are you kidding?  You didn't like THE THOMPSON?

Me:  Not so much.

John:  Hmph, it was good enough for Bonnie.

Still to come... videos of me shooting a Browning 1919, HK MP5 PDW, M4 Carbine, M60, and an M249 SAW.  Also to come, videos of our nephew Luke at Knob Creek.  He was one happy kid last weekend.  Stay tuned...

Newbies

We're trying to catch up on the house stuff before the debate.  John picked up the mail from the post office today.  There was so much of it they gave him one of those big plastic bins to haul it home.  Since I am refusing to deal with it until the weekend, John fished out his Concealed Carry magazine for tonight's reading (might be better entertainment than the debate).  I was thrilled to see the cover... "The Evolution of a New Shooter" is a featured article.  And, there is a chick on the cover.  Hooray!  I'll check it out and post my book report soon!

Right on Target...

I am catching up on my Google Reader. Which, by the way, was going to explode from neglect. I found this at Firearms & Freedom.  Peter features a great quote every day.

Knob Creek Video, Part I

I uploaded a couple of videos to the Pretty Pistolera YouTube Channel.  Since it takes me a while to add each of the videos, I uploaded my favorite first.  This is me shooting a Sterling, although it is not the best video of the field trip, I truly enjoyed the Sterling experience.  It handled very well... easy to shoot!

Stay tuned.  More later...

Knob Creek Photos

I uploaded the photos from our Knob Creek field trip.  You can check out The Pretty Pistolera Photostream at Flickr.  I think this one is my favorite.  Luke and I had just arrived at the lower range.

Pretty Pistolera's Weekend Update

I am so happy to be home... I've been to The Big Apple and a machine gun fest all in the same week (hilarious, huh?).  John has been on the road for almost two weeks... Philly for the IDPA nationals then he left again on Thursday for Knob Creek.  He should be home in a couple of hours and Winston will be back tomorrow afternoon... then we should be back to normal for a few weeks.

The Machine Gun Shoot at Knob Creek was an interesting experience.  I've never seen anything quite like it.  I was told about 13,000 people visit the three day event.  I have lots of video to share!  John bought me a nifty new Flip camcorder to make shooting video and uploading much easier.  This is the perfect camcorder for a range bag.  The camera plugs into the USB port of the computer and voila...  super-easy uploaded videos.  I will put them on YouTube this week.

Here is a pic I snapped Saturday morning at the range.  Shooting on the upper range had just started and the sun just came up over the hills.  It didn't take long for gunpowder to fill the air.

Welcome!

Apparently, John told everyone at the IDPA nationals about my blog.  For those of you that are newcomers... welcome!  I'm Tracy.  I'm a shoe-loving, mega-shopping, beauty product addicted girly-girl. I discovered competitive shooting this summer while I was "detoxing" from corporate America.

If you have some time to check out my blog, here are a few links to get you started:

Thanks again for visiting!
